Investigation into the Cause
Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding by the truck driver, possibly coupled with fatigue or poor visibility, contributed to the collision. The truck driver fled the scene, prompting a police manhunt. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage from nearby checkpoints and examining the vehicles for mechanical faults. The Jahangirabad-Gulawati road, a busy freight route, has seen similar accidents, raising concerns about inadequate traffic regulation and lighting, as noted in local reports on X.

Road Safety Concerns Amplified
The Bulandshahr tragedy underscores India’s persistent road safety crisis, with over 150,000 road deaths annually, per 2024 NCRB data. The incident, following a similar crash in Balrampur, has intensified calls for stricter enforcement of speed limits and driver regulations. Community leaders and residents are urging the UP government to enhance highway safety measures to prevent such devastating losses in the future.
